Quote of the Day

"We refuse to allow the offer of planes be linked in any way to a freeze on settlements. The United States is an ally of Israel and we can not prevent that. But let their aid be carried out far removed from the Palestinian peace negotiations and not be used as a pretext for giving more weaponry to Israel."

- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, voicing his skepticism of back-room US-Israeli negotiations

Abbas will call an immediate Arab League session once Israel is done squeezing every last penny out of the White House. Al Jazeera reports that while the Palestinians maintain a relatively neutral stance until the deal is finalized, they’ve “expressed outrage in private over reports of the US offer, saying it was a bribe to get Israel to fulfill basic international obligations.”
