Will Malaysian Crackdown Seed an Uprising?

"The public is reminded not to be involved in any demonstration," the federal police force said in a statement, warning of "stern action ... against those who disobey."

People often do the opposite of what they're told. Over 20,000 protesters turned out to demand electoral reform.

  1. Interesting that the report mentions the Malayan 'emergency' of 50 years ago. The Malayan/Malaysian people did not support the Communist-led uprising against Britain then in any numbers because of a natural cautiousness, although the guerrilla activity went on for many years. I don't think this will take root either, somehow. Good luck to the demonstrators anyway.
