But, is there a slight possibility...i do not know.
But, is there a slight possibility that Kandahar is a head fake? What I mean is.
For there to be a political solution, all the players must save face. All sides have to come out looking like winners.

Iran and other countries in the region, do not want the Taliban entering their countries.

Is there a possibility that Afghanistan could be BALKANIZED?
I know it sounds crazy!Tao Dao Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16229628652152584292noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1571201204115952544.post-70391719194068823362010-05-04T22:25:15.136-07:002010-05-04T22:25:15.136-07:00Probably, either out of national power plays or be...Probably, either out of national power plays or because of local opposition. I'm definitely understand when you refuse to believe US officials could be so stupid to invade Kandahar without a political or economic strategy. I'm overcoming the same feeling. Just look at recent history - nothing stopped Obama from supporting Karzai through a fraudulent election, or launching a new surge, abusing and being rejected by NATO, and now the bogged down Marjah operation.

But America has no other choice either. If it doesn't invade Kandahar now it might as well withdraw ASAP. Desperate times call for desperate measures, though if we lose this last bet we're basically out of chips.James Gundunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16141055666432969361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1571201204115952544.post-13558764131788560712010-05-04T21:34:50.064-07:002010-05-04T21:34:50.064-07:00http://news.antiwar.com/2010/05/04/us-scrapped-kan...http://news.antiwar.com/2010/05/04/us-scrapped-kandahar-attack-citing-lack-of-afghan-leadership/

"US officials expressed annoyance over the blocking, saying that the Afghan rank and file forces were fine for the operation, but their leadership simply isn’t up to the task."

Maybe this is spin for ---The leadership refused to attack.-----Tao Dao Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16229628652152584292noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1571201204115952544.post-44591604992210368902010-05-04T16:41:20.358-07:002010-05-04T16:41:20.358-07:00I had not heard anything from Marjah since the US ...I had not heard anything from Marjah since the US operation began. Their main enemy is an outside occupier.
We have become our worse enemy.

So true. The West can not afford a stalemate, in Kandahar. And this seems the best they can wish for. Not Good.
I still have a weird feeling that something else will happen before the onslaught of Kandahar.
I guess I just refuse to believe that they would be so stupid as to go in there. Considering the "conditions on the ground" as they like to say.Tao Dao Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16229628652152584292noreply@blogger.com
